The Central Market of Florence on its way to Venice

San Lorenzo Market in Florence

In Florence centre there is an historical open-air market called “Mercato di San Lorenzo”. Located in front of the facade of San Lorenzo Church, this open-air market it’s always been a place where people go to buy some tipical and high-quality food. From July to October, this piece of Florence’s History moves temporarily to Venice to allow to taste traditional Tuscany food.
It’s not the first time it happens: last year was Rome to host this event and was a real success, so the organization, this year, it will try again. This time the location will be the little square of Santa Lucia, very close to the same name train station. This event is organized by Grandi Stazioni society with the objective to redevelop the area around the main Italy’s rail stations.
The Mercato di San Lorenzo will offer many delicacies and it will be the opportunity to try new flavours across the 12 food trucks, located in an area with more than 400 seats, where you can eat sorrounded by concerts or other cultural events.
You will find Chianina’s hamburgers, Porchetta (a typical tuscan pork dish), the famous and tasty lampredotto sandwich and pizza.
An event for everyone who want know Tuscany through its dishes.
